Ed

Ed is a qualified Science teacher and has taught all three Sciences up to and including GCSE, as well as A-level Biology. He has a range of teaching practices which help to support and give confidence to all learners.

I have taught all three sciences to GCSE (OCR & AQA) as well as A Level Biology (OCR & AQA) at a state comprehensive academy in Oxfordshire with a teacher training specialism that was recently deemed β€œoutstanding” by OFSTED. During my teaching stint I attended numerous training seminars hosted by examiners and boards from which I gained genuine first-hand experience of the exam process. I also held the position of Head of House, in which I led and coordinated school pastoral responsibilities for over 250 students, and as such I am acutely aware of how to support students under exam pressure.

Biography

I went to Cheltenham College, followed by St. Andrews University in Scotland. After graduating with a 2:1 in Zoology I embarked on a Secondary Science PGCE at Oxford University. Upon achieving QTS status I taught Science and A Level Biology at a state comprehensive academy in Oxfordshire before moving to ΊΪΑΟΙη to take up the role of Director of Education at ΊΪΑΟΙη Tutors.

Approach to Tutoring

I believe in tailoring my approach to the needs of the individual. It is important in the first instance to identify areas of strength and weakness. From this starting point it is possible to put into place a plan to build confidence as well as ensure academic development. Forging a strong and effective working relationship is integral to this process.

When not tutoring

When I am not working I try to play as much sport as possible, in particular skiing, rugby, hockey and cricket. I have been lucky enough to gather extensive experience in both playing and coaching sport at a high level and use a lot of coaching theory in my teaching.
